Oh boy! Come on Angela .... Get out there and run!
A short pre thought blog to encourage my lazy ass to get out there. I know as soon as the kit is on there’s no going back. Like all runners; when you get home tired from the commute, work & pubic transportations the fridge’s contents become far more interesting. I have managed to scoff a large bag of hula hoops in trying to avoid the coulston bassett …. Plan: like all my runs is to take it...

girl of 2 laundry baskets, all the wrong kit, 9...
I’m feeling pretty exhausted today, so I did a slow 4.5 mile run in all the wrong kit! Like Nike Grid, Janathon requires kit managment and if you have a crazy work related commute and no butler things like personal hygiene, laundry & home cooking or even eating start becoming a bit punky. And believe me, 2 laundry baskets is an excuse not an answer. … i just can’t do all the...

legs that run anywhere! but mainly in Cities
My lovely lunch date with Ian, his Alfa Romeo, bacon butties & Italian Sing Song. Today’s adventure took in Shooters Hill which must be one of Kent’s steepest. So impressed with this gargantuan beauty i thought i’d run home …. and can confirm Shooters Hill a bastard!  Today’s run: Bexleychavheath (Kent) to New Cross (still south of the River) going via...

The new city limits by Kieran Long (columnist for... →
Thumbing through the ES on my train home last night I find myself unusually engaged in Kieran Longs article ‘The New City Limits’, and as you all know I love the City’s Limits growing natures to the East, which I can now confirm dominates Algates once eel ridden streets. So, I love Middlesex Street Estate and Petticoat Tower and personally i don’t find it...

An ode to a jag-u-ar!
Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie bonnet, Great Chieftan o’ the formula1-race! Aboon them a’ ye tak your place, Painch, trim, or alloys base, Wheel are ye wordy of a grace As lang’s my arm The groaning trencher there ye fill, Your hurdies like a distant hill, You pin wad help to mend a mill In time o’need While thro’ your pores the dews distil Like amber bead of bad welding His knife see...

Thought for this day from the late late breakfast...
I would just like to do something remarkable! Really remarkable, not just good or even really good, but remarkable. Provoked by: Julie who set up women unlimited, a site for entrepreneurial females Now I could reflect on the intellectual sector of my life, my Oxford don community or the business owners I know that fail to be affected by the recession etc. Or my bessa, top photographer for a...

71.1 miles completed this month so far
10.18 City miles in the bag. E8 to Embankment, Westminster & beyond and then back. That takes my total for Janathon to 71.1 miles. Given i spent the beginning of January with a cold and outside my usual running ground i’m quite pleased with my achievement. Just got to stay in this gear until end of Jan. Not that i’m going to beat the 6 main players of Janathon who reached triple...

4.7 miles of hard work
Today was a case of ‘mind over matter’, repeating to myself throughout the day that it’s just 4 miles! Just 4 miles to take my janathon effort to 60 miles. Well I dug deep, put the kit on & off I went with ‘Adrenaline junkie’ high intensity by audiofuel, god knows why … I think I was pacing 10 min miling which is somewhat of a low intensity pace. I really need to start knocking out the long...

On the 14th Day of Janathon: hung over, false fire...
Hungover, feeling sorry for myself, nurafen’d up, yesterday’s kit, no trainers & horrible weather! Today was a poor head day, with yet another false fire alarm in the Wharf. We have two alarms fitted in our flat, about 2 meters apart from each other and with both going off along with the rest of the Wharf it sounded like a war zone with only the bathroom for respite. That coupled...

Day 11 of Janathon . just eAT tTHAT cHEESE
5.8 chav miles in the town they call Bexleyheath. Bexleychavitupheath! And now it’s evening tide at home I have gorged out on Dutch cheese with my sisters green tomato chutney - delicious. Perhaps like Phil I run to eat? Who knows but cheese is my weakness & pleasure. And that knife is as you can see evidence of my fine investment in my love for fine cheeses. Distance: 5.8miles ...

Janathon Day 7! A trip down memory lane in E8
Todays route was a trip down Nike Grid memory lane as I found a phone box still branded with  my name on it :) . The route was E8 to E2 return. Nothing really notable to say about today’s run or events, I mean Dalston Market was as usual a hive of fish selling acitivity that I always have to slow down or stop for, and I explored a bit more of the Shacklewell Lane area as I kind of like...

Janathon day 5 - i'm getting stronger!
I’m still suffering with my cold, Only now my cold has become my friend and has it’s own name; ‘paul’, yes my cold is a man. So today’s run was a magnificent 7.51 miles through the city in 48 mins 08 secs, i’m well happy with this given my poor performance of late. Fuel: wimpy for lunch. Crazy Dutch for tea Miles: 7.51 Time: 48.08 Spirit: with Paul by my side we did a good run Motoperpetio - So...
