About 4 years ago my Luuk-e-lovini pulled out what looked like a Le Corbusier sofa from the communal skip (AKA the compactor) in the Wharf. Unsure of the manufacturer & looking very shabby, raggy & providing nothing more than a slope to sit on we gave it a home.
About 2 months ago we discovered it to be an original from about 1972. Personally, I couldn’t see how we could keep it & was loathed to spend circa £2k on having it re-upholstered in cheap linen. And as we were moving a decision had to be made.
Often Luuk would say, “this is my dream sofa baby”. A few words that never left my head & something I threw into conversation hoping Luuk would change his mind and settle for a Habitat sofa or something!
Yep…. Without that dream, your dream won’t come true.
Today, courtesy of Carlos at Langstaff Garcia and a ‘touch of gold’ dinner party we found a solution! And today we took home our newly upholstered Le Corbusier, styling new foam, feather padding & leather & styled on it’s original. It looks so new, so unique, so in suit to the space we reside & it’s luuks dream sofa.
Happy days in the sofa department at The Tower.
