Oxford and Oxfordshire bound for a 10k race, Etiquette at the Oxford Playhouse, a curry, a few beers & a spot of crazy fast golf with children of new homes and gardens.
So! i have to share this with you, we stayed at Keble College, Oxford, it is a celebration of Victorian architecture .. i mean it is intense and it is expansive & it is all around you in this quad like set up … but it has also introduced some more modern buildings which I like but i know many don’t. Victorian architecture is grand and great but it is a bit over kill!
What was it like to stay at Keble College?
AMAZING, AWESOME, TOTALLY FELT LIKE I WAS IN HARRY POTTER … a real treat! the rooms are basic along with the mattresses, but the linen is clean and the bathroom totally adequate and we slept just fine (bar the noisy radiator). Outside the room, the buildings, the atmosphere, the porter, the chalked up athletic results, the empty out of term time bar and the library are RICHER than any hotel or space I have ever resided in. Nothing compares to this old and extraordinary student existence. We had breakfast, a pre-race toast & jam experience on a long table full of other punters, surrounded by portraits of past Reverands or Heads of College, very similar to that at Christ Church College and we were served at our table with the correct cutlery for the job with every need catered for within an instance - oh! no porridge though.
Then on Sunday morning we left for the countryside: Finstock 10k race where I came in 2nd place within the female category, which is pretty significant given I’ve haven’t run for 2.5 months. I AM A WINNER! that coupled with an afternoon of good friends and Oxford academics Matt & Chimene made my weekend just peachy nice. Give me weekends like this always.
