So fellow runners , it’s time to celebrate the launch of a new AudioFuel cracking mix of tunes.

And, as top tester I was privileged to have taken this mix for a few test runs before its launch in an attempt to feedback what worked, what didn’t and its effect on my performance. Admittedly running with fellow testers of ‘speed freak hotty’ qualities along the embankment only added to my performance .. note: I think i flew over Lambeth Bridge on that particular occasion.

First test run performance / un-polished

44 minutes of Embankment running with fellow testers Tom Skipp & Sean Blair

Distance: 10.8km

Average speed: 06:33 per km

It is now a polished bit of running audio kit that incorporates 2 tracks of 1 minute each durations at a speed of 190bpm, now if that doesn’t put a spring in your step nothing will!

Then came the Adrenaline Junkie Challenge

Which basically consisted of running like a lunatic to clock up the biggest distance amongst other competitors whilst listening to Adrenaline Junkie 2.

Praise the lord, it’s a PB! / polished performance

44 minutes of Stoke Newington circuit run as part of the Adrenaline Junkie challenge

I knocked out an 11km run

That’s a PB for me on this route

————————

So! the deal is . You can buy Adrenaline Junkie 2 for £10

10 tracks

That’s 44 mins of coached running performance. This includes 2 hideously fast 190 bpm tempo sessions of 1 minute each and 2 sessions of Kirsty Hawkshaw ‘Breathe Easy’ which are a needed respite

10.18 City miles in the bag. E8 to Embankment, Westminster & beyond and then back. That takes my total for Janathon to 71.1 miles.

Given i spent the beginning of January with a cold and outside my usual running ground i’m quite pleased with my achievement. Just got to stay in this gear until end of Jan. Not that i’m going to beat the 6 main players of Janathon who reached triple figures within the first 7 days, but perhaps i’m doing okay against the ladies? i have not a clue how the girls are doing … but I shall seek to find out my place.

2011 Jan | Run -  71.1 miles - 8.6 hrs

Today was a case of ‘mind over matter’, repeating to myself throughout the day that it’s just 4 miles! Just 4 miles to take my janathon effort to 60 miles. Well I dug deep, put the kit on & off I went with ‘Adrenaline junkie’ high intensity by audiofuel, god knows why … I think I was pacing 10 min miling which is somewhat of a low intensity pace.

I really need to start knocking out the long runs but after today’s effort perhaps a long walk more realistic!

Until tomorrow janathon … Sleep tight!

Miles: 4.17

Motivation: 4 miles away from 60

Music: too fast for me: adrenalin junkie by audiofuel

Fuel: katsu curry, china town

Spirit: deflated as I don’t feel 100%

Hungover, feeling sorry for myself, nurafen’d up, yesterday’s kit, no trainers & horrible weather!

Today was a poor head day, with yet another false fire alarm in the Wharf. We have two alarms fitted in our flat, about 2 meters apart from each other and with both going off along with the rest of the Wharf it sounded like a war zone with only the bathroom for respite. That coupled with the  neighbouring building site bringing in more cranes, generators & flood lights, It feels like i’m back in E1. The real problem here isn’t so much the chaos around me, it’s me, I’ve not had a boozy drink since the New Year, so what was i thinking filling up on red wine last night.  but it was part celebration as Luuk secured funding for his business venture and I really wanted to enjoy his moment of glory too …  and i also stupidly offered to pick the car up at 7am  … of course that didn’t happen (& we didn’t get a ticket!

run: 5.01 hung over local miles

music: volume low (Mid Intensity AudioFuel / Shoot the Breeze)

time: I only tracked half of it, as i was running with geoff for the return part

route: E8 to geoff and claires, & back with Geoff

footwear: crazy red ‘goat like shoes’. I left my trainers at Geoff and Claires last night

Now: Bath, PJ’s, sofa, iplayer, heating on, no nice drinks in the house.

pics: my ridiculous footwear & geoff styling limited edition ‘Team Audiofuel / Nike Grid’ t-shirt

Janathon day 13.

Blog everyday, run everyday & remember to do it before 12 mid night to stay in the game!

Run: 2 miles in the bag (in other words: a rest day)

From: E8 to Geoff & claire’s for chilli

Wine: yep! That’s dry jan oooot the door

Remember: to pick up car at 7am tomorrow for Luuk

Celebration: Luuk got investment for fcw

Pic: Georgina Pugh

Janathon day 12. God sent me traffic jams, quiche, firemen, diversions and new bed sheets!

Luckily I managed to keep Luuk away from disarming the fire alarm as I found him with head inside a tool box. As it turns out our flat is the central unit for all alarms this side of the wharf; & with a twitchy tool happy Luuk his ability to turn it off means I spend my time with the engineer explaining & apologising.

Anyway, nothing to worry about! And we managed to finish our tea too.

Run: 4.8 Chav miles

Motivation: audiofuel interval session

Traffic jams: blackwall tunnel to Bethnal green

Diversions: broadway Market

Quiche: for 10. Created with love by Luuk

Firemen: 10

Fire engines: 2

Fires: 0

And on the 10th day of Janathon I ran with janathoner’s: Phil (RedRocket) & Seanlove of Audiofuel

We did sean’s usual canal route, and saw just 2 dogs that weren’t very interested in us! And my pic is therefore of a dog … It’s meaning needs no explanation ‘a man and his dog’.

Distance: 5 km
Duration: 25 mins
Pace: 5.0 per km I think!

Spirit: so nice to run with others. I feel good! Also I did a few strips of sprints, the first this year.

Thrashed! Beaten & worn out. Took a run with Sean & Bob on his bike & we presumed quite a fast pace for the first 3km. see Sean’s blog for stats from his garmin. I also ran there and back to Aean’s for the extra km’s.

As much as I’m still donning a cold it was nice to have been pushed to keep pace with a seven year old on a bike. Also nice to see the regents canal tow path busy with other runners too.

Total distance covered: 5.87 miles

Spirit: I felt as if I was slowing the team down

Post activity: wii tennis with Bob & olympic winners top trumps … Again I lost!

Post post activity: the Tate modern & a visit to the 6th floor of the new shopping precinct by St. Pauls for what is one amazing city scape view.

Janathon total: 36.3 miles

And on the 8th day of Janathon we cooked a feast fit for a king.

Rin Distance: 4.7miles Duration: 40mins 40 secs Spirit: slow but nice to run in my old neighbourhood

And on the 6th day of Janathon I wore Luuks speed skating suit for warmth!

i feel a bit like Borat in this suit but with an inside fleecey lining it is by far the best bit of winter running kit i can lay my hands on. Today it was cold, wet and miserable and i waited till 2pm to see if it would better itself and of course it didn’t so i ran in sleet conditions with a woolly hat made for arctic conditions.

Mileage: 5.61miles

Pace: 7.50 min miling

Duration: 44 mins

Kit: Luuks speed skating outift

Spirit: chuffed! I got out there in the most miserable weather and with Paul my cold
